Alaina Pinto Discusses Her Departure from WHDH Channel 7 News Boston
Alaina Pinto has recently shared the reasons behind her departure from her role as a news anchor. After several years at WHDH Channel 7 News Boston, Pinto was dismissed due to what she described as a misunderstanding.
Pinto took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, in 2020 to announce her situation. While she expressed disappointment, she also acknowledged a positive aspect of the experience.
“Hi Friends! I have some news to share… Earlier this week I was let go from 7 News. I am posting this because I want to be open and honest with all of you. Last year, I participated in a cameo in the recently released Netflix movie by Adam Sandler, ‘Hubie Halloween,’” she started her series of posts.
She explained that her appearance in the film was a breach of her employment contract. “In doing so, I mistakenly violated my contract with the station and I understand why management unfortunately chose to terminate me. I am deeply disappointed and saddened, and I hoped this would not be how things evolved,” she elaborated.
Pinto ended her announcements on a hopeful note: “Thanks to all my wonderful 7 News viewers and my supportive and great colleagues at the station. Reporting the news to you every morning was an honor and a privilege. I promise to stay in touch and keep you updated on the next chapter – the future is bright!”
Background on ‘Hubie Halloween’
Released in 2020, ‘Hubie Halloween’ is set on October 31st in Salem, Massachusetts. It revolves around the town’s quirky, dedicated community volunteer who, despite being the target of local jokes and pranks, ends up embroiled in a genuine murder investigation. The film is categorized as a comedy horror.
Alaina Pinto’s New Career Path
Currently thriving as a content creator in New England, Pinto has opened up about her life post-news anchoring. She revealed that she declined two other news anchor positions shortly after her dismissal to explore her personal interests and passions more fully. She initially worked part-time at a tanning salon, relying on modest wages, tips, and her savings. During this period, she also managed to publish old content from her travel experiences which she couldn’t previously due to her demanding news schedule.
Since 2023, she has been a full-time content creator, enjoying the freedom and flexibility this new career offers. “I don’t have to request vacation time 6 months in advance, I don’t have to wake up at 3am and I don’t have to straighten my hair and cake on makeup every day for the news. I do feel like I work 10X more now but it’s SO MUCH MORE FUN and it’s for ME and not for another man’s business,” she expressed with enthusiasm.
