A tragic fire at Fripps Farm in Uttlesford resulted in the death of two marmosets, a species native to South America.
Jodie Marsh is expressing her profound heartbreak following a terrible fire at her farm which resulted in the death of two of her cherished animals.
The fire erupted at Fripps Farm located in Uttlesford, tragically leading to the deaths of two marmosets. These small primates, typically found in South America, had become a part of her family, especially after Marsh had taken on the role of caring for them following their mother’s death.
In an emotional video, Marsh shared her devastation, revealing the deep connection she had with her animals. She expressed that she had dedicated her life to them, stating, “I’ve given up my whole life for them, and those babies meant everything to me. I am so broken, so broken.” She emphasized that the loss of her house paled in comparison to losing the baby marmosets, which she had been hand-rearing in her bedroom after their mother passed away during childbirth.
“That’s the biggest loss for me. This [her property] is just stuff that can be replaced. The babies dying has broken me beyond belief. Because I do everything for these animals,” Marsh stated, underscoring her profound grief and the irreplaceable loss of the young marmosets.
The farm, according to reports, houses a vast array of rescued animals including emus, llamas, alpacas, goats, sheep, cows, pigs, and deer. Additionally, there is an enclosure for peacocks and chickens, and geese and ducks freely roam the area.
It is believed that the fire was accidental and originated from an electrical item. A spokesperson from the Essex County Fire and Rescue Service reported that the firefighters, called to the scene around 4:56 pm, found the property filled with smoke. The team located the fire in an upstairs bedroom and worked diligently to extinguish it and prevent further spread. The cause of the fire was officially determined to be accidental, sparked by an electrical item.
