Cancellation at Club Venom
A well-known R&B artist from the early 2000s had to cancel his scheduled appearance at a nightclub after the establishment did not allow him and his entourage to carry firearms inside.
Mario, a Grammy-nominated singer famous for his early 2000s hits, was expected to host an event at Club Venom, located within the Levels complex in Norfolk, Virginia, on the night of December 6.
During the early 2000s, Mario gained significant popularity with chart-topping tracks like the Grammy-nominated song “Let Me Love You.” In 2024, he also made a notable appearance on the twelfth season of FOX’s popular reality show The Masked Singer, where he finished as the runner-up.
The club had previously hyped up the event on social media, declaring, “Norfolk, GET READY… the smoothest voice in the game is stepping into the 757 for ONE NIGHT ONLY!”
However, attendees were left disappointed as the singer never took the stage.
Later in the evening, Club Venom released a statement on Instagram explaining the reason behind Mario’s absence.
“The artist Mario and members of his entourage requested to enter the venue with firearms. In accordance with ABC regulations and Venom Lounge policy, firearms or illegal contraband are not permitted inside the club under any circumstances,” the Instagram post clarified.
The club further explained that Mario chose not to enter the venue after being informed about the prohibition against bringing firearms inside.
“When entry was declined based on these regulations, the artist and his entourage chose not to enter the venue. In order to maintain the safety and well-being of our guests and staff, Venom Lounge made the decision not to proceed with the appearance,” the statement elaborated. “The safety of our patrons will always be our top priority. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and continued support.”
As of now, Mario has not made any public comments regarding his decision not to perform at the event.
The Instagram post from the venue provided further details and expressed gratitude towards their patrons for their understanding and ongoing support amidst the unexpected turn of events.
