Bruce Glover, a distinguished actor recognized for his role as the antagonist Mr. Wint in Diamonds Are Forever and for his contributions to numerous other movies and television shows, has passed away.
His son, Crispin Glover, known for his role in Back to the Future, shared the news of his father’s death through several Instagram posts, stating he died on Wednesday, March 12, at the age of 92. According to a representative for Crispin, Bruce Glover succumbed to natural causes.
“Bruce Herbert Glover May 2, 1932 – March 12, 2025,” Crispin posted, accompanied by a collection of photos showcasing his father throughout the years. The images included Glover in the movie Chinatown and at the Season 2 premiere of American Gods.
Born during the Great Depression in Chicago in 1932, Glover initially contemplated a career in painting or football before accidentally entering the acting world. As an art student at Wright Junior College, a fellow model convinced him to don a gorilla suit for a performance, marking his first foray into acting, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Following his service in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, Glover embarked on a prolific acting journey that spanned several decades and included more than 100 screen appearances. He began his career on stage, appearing in local theater productions and later on Broadway in The Night of the Iguana and Mother Courage and Her Children during the 1960s. Concurrently, he amassed a variety of TV roles in shows like The Verdict Is Yours, Car 54, Where Are You?, and Route 66, according to his IMDb profile. His later television appearances included roles in Perry Mason, Mission: Impossible, Gunsmoke, S.W.A.T., The Streets of San Francisco, Battlestar Galactica, The Dukes of Hazzard, and The A-Team.
His film career was highlighted by his portrayal of the villain Mr. Wint in the 1971 James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever. Glover is also remembered for his role as Duffy in the 1974 film Chinatown, alongside Jack Nicholson. His filmography also includes the Walking Tall series (1973-1977), Hard Times (1975), The Six Million Dollar Man (1975), and It Is Fine! Everything Is Fine (2007), which was directed by his son.
