Stephen Spielberg has officially entered the exclusive EGOT ranks. The famed director has now collected an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony.
The achievement came at the 2026 68th Annual Grammy Awards, where Spielberg was honored as a producer on the film Music by John Williams.
His Grammy was presented during the pre-telecast portion of the ceremony rather than on the main broadcast. Prior to this, Spielberg’s trophy cabinet included four Emmys, a Tony and three Academy Awards — and this marked his first-ever Grammy nomination and victory.
In a statement reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Spielberg expressed gratitude to Grammy voters for recognizing Music by John Williams, saying the honor means a great deal to him and his Amblin producing partners, Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey. He also extended congratulations to collaborators at Imagine and the Walt Disney Company, and praised John Williams’ unparalleled contribution to music and culture while noting how proud he is to be connected to Laurent’s film.
Only 21 people have reached EGOT status so far. The list of notable members features names such as Elton John, Whoopi Goldberg, John Legend, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Jennifer Hudson and Viola Davis.
Hudson, an EGOT herself since 2022, celebrated Spielberg’s addition while speaking on the red carpet to PEOPLE. She said she was thrilled by his win and delighted to be counted among the company of EGOT recipients now that Spielberg has joined them.
Asked how she might welcome him into the group, Hudson admitted words were hard to come by. She marveled at the moment, noting Spielberg’s stature and calling his entrance into the EGOT circle a momentous cause for celebration.
