Passing of British Actor Patrick Murray
The entertainment world mourns the loss of Patrick Murray, a distinguished British actor, who has died at the age of 68.
Famous for his portrayal of the trilby-hat-wearing character Mickey Peace in the beloved sitcom Only Fools and Horses, Murray passed away in Kent, England due to complications from lung cancer at the end of last month.
The BBC expressed its condolences with a statement that read, “We are very sad to hear of the passing of Patrick Murray, who was much loved for his portrayal of Mickey in Only Fools And Horses. Our thoughts are with his friends and family during this difficult time.”
Murray’s performance in Only Fools and Horses spanned two decades, from 1983 to 2003. His character was cherished by viewers for his iconic hat and comical antics, making him a fan favorite.
In 2021, the actor shared with his fans that he had been diagnosed with lung cancer and had also discovered a tumor in his liver. He underwent surgery that successfully removed half of his liver. By 2022, he had received hopeful news from his oncologist stating that his lung cancer had been cured and the liver tumor was diminishing. Unfortunately, the cancer returned and had spread by April 2023.
Following the news of his passing, his Only Fools and Horses co-star Sue Holderness paid tribute to him on Twitter/X, sharing her grief with the message, “R.I.P. darling Patrick. Much love. You will be greatly missed.”
