A young student from Hazlehead Academy was hospitalized after the incident.
An alarming incident at Hazlehead Academy in Aberdeen resulted in a young girl being hospitalized due to a reported stabbing.
Emergency teams were summoned to the school just after 10:30 a.m. on Thursday following reports of a grave occurrence on school grounds.
It is reported that a 12-year-old student suffered injuries from an altercation that involved a knife. She is presently receiving care at the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital and is reported to have needed stitches, according to the Press and Journal.
A fellow student recounted how pandemonium ensued in the school canteen during the morning break.
“It happened in the canteen during the morning break. There was a lot of screaming, and I saw one of the girls bleeding from her face,” one pupil recalled.
“The teachers later clarified that it was not a stabbing, but several of my friends reported seeing a knife,” another student added.

An Aberdeen City Council spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating, “We can confirm that there was an incident at Hazlehead Academy this morning that resulted in a student being injured.”
“The student was picked up by their parents and has received medical attention. The incident has been resolved,” the spokesperson continued.
“Police have been notified and are investigating the incident. We are unable to provide further details at this time but wish to reassure parents that all necessary measures have been taken and support has been provided,” the statement concluded.
A police spokesperson added, “At around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025, we were alerted to an incident involving a 12-year-old girl near Groats Road in Aberdeen. She is currently being treated at the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital.”
“Investigations are ongoing, and officers are following a promising lead,” the spokesperson noted.
The police have assured the public that this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing risk to the wider school community.
