Show of Support for Sheinelle Jones from ‘TODAY’ Team
Sheinelle Jones has been notably missing from the NBC morning program ‘TODAY,’ and her fellow anchors are expressing their support during her time away. Jones has been off-air since December, addressing a personal family health issue.
Her colleagues, Craig Melvin, Dylan Dreyer, and Al Roker recently provided an update to the audience about her situation. “I just talked to her a couple of days ago—she’s spending time with her family, but she’s still very much in our thoughts,” Melvin commented on the April 11 episode of ‘TODAY.’ “We love our girl. It’s heartwarming to see that the audience shares that sentiment.”
Dreyer reassured viewers that Jones plans to return to ‘TODAY.’ “She really misses being here with us, but she knows she needs to prioritize her family right now,” Dreyer mentioned. Roker chimed in, adding, “We’re all praying for her.”
Sheinelle Jones’ Temporary Departure
Shortly after her last appearance on ‘TODAY,’ Jones took to social media to inform her followers about her temporary leave. “Hi everybody…I’m truly grateful for all the messages and support during my absence,” she posted on January 15. “I’m currently dealing with a family health matter. I feel very fortunate to have the support from my ‘Today Show’ family and all of you. Your kindness is deeply appreciated. I look forward to being back soon.”
At that time, Savannah Guthrie conveyed Jones’ message on-air, sending well wishes and emphasizing how much Jones was missed by her colleagues. “We all love you and can’t wait to welcome you back,” Melvin added.
Sheinelle Jones’ Role at ‘TODAY’
Since joining the ‘TODAY’ team in 2014, Jones has become a central figure, co-hosting the third hour of the show alongside Roker, Melvin, and Dreyer. Over the years, she has also stepped in as a co-host for various segments of the program, including ‘TODAY With Jenna & Friends.’
Apart from her professional life, Jones is a mother to three children—15-year-old Kayin and 12-year-old twins Clara and Uche—with her husband Uche Ojeh.
