Passengers from Malta rerouted unexpectedly.
A Jet2 plane destined for Edinburgh was unexpectedly rerouted to Switzerland, arriving in the city only several hours later.
Flight LS3922 took off from Malta at 11:45 AM on Wednesday, June 25, and was scheduled to arrive in Edinburgh at 2:45 PM. However, the plane was unexpectedly diverted to Geneva.
The airline’s online Travel Information page indicated that the plane touched down in Geneva at 1:06 PM, but did not depart until 9:20 PM. The flight eventually reached Edinburgh almost eight hours behind schedule, landing at 10:19 PM.
The reasons behind the flight’s diversion remain unclear, as reported by Edinburgh Live.
The Daily Record has reached out to Jet2 for a statement regarding the incident.

There have been several diversions of the airline’s Scottish flights in recent months.
On May 5, a medical emergency was declared on a flight from Edinburgh to Rome. Another flight had to land back in Edinburgh shortly after departing from Glasgow due to “unforeseen operational reasons.”
A flight from Glasgow to Leeds had to return shortly after takeoff following a mid-air “emergency” signaled by a squawk code to air traffic control.
