Edinburgh Murder Shock: Man Faces Court After Local Woman’s Death

Momodou Bobb was brought before the court facing a murder charge following the demise of a woman in an Edinburgh residence. He is accused of the murder of Ndata Bobb, a 43-year-old woman from Gambia, which occurred at a Restalrig Avenue home last week.

Emergency teams were called to the scene around 1 am on Thursday, August 28. Upon arrival, Ndata was quickly transported to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for medical attention but tragically passed away shortly thereafter. A 55-year-old man, later identified as Momodou Bobb, received medical treatment at St John’s Hospital before being discharged.

In court today in Edinburgh, the accused, also originally from Gambia, stood before the judge without entering a plea and was remanded in custody. He is scheduled to return to court within the upcoming eight days.

Heartfelt tributes have poured in for Ndata following her untimely death.

Fatoumatta Trawally expressed her sorrow: “So sad we meet at her mom’s funeral Just last month may yalla Allah forgive her shortcomings and grant her Jannahtul firduss.”

Beulah MJ Obiageli Ogoh remarked: “No! This is shocking! You’ve only recently lost your mum Ndata, sadly you’ve joined her so soon. Rest well sis. May God grant you eternal rest and watch over your children.”

Lyndsay Currie added: “Rest in Peace beautiful lady and prayers with your family during this tough time.”

Awa Bah Yaye Baye shared: “My former co-worker, my Sister, my niece, my friend, you DO NOT deserve this at all. A very beautiful lady inside and out. She was very loving, jovial and very peaceful. Allah knows best. May Allah forgive your shortcomings and grant you Jannah. May Allah protect the children you have left behind. You will be surely missed.”

Restalrig Avenue was shut down as police began an investigation into Ndata’s death. Photographs from the location depicted the area sealed off, with law enforcement officials standing guard behind police tape.

The police chief described the incident as “shocking” and encouraged any concerned members of the public to come forward with information.

Detective Inspector Kevin Tait stated: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Ndata during this extremely challenging time. Our investigation is ongoing, however, we are not seeking anyone else in connection with Ndata’s death. This is a deeply shocking incident, and I urge anyone with any concerns, or information, to reach out to the police.”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland added: “A 55-year-old man has been arrested and charged in relation to the death of a woman in Edinburgh. Early on Thursday, 28 August, 2025, we received a report of a disturbance at a property on Restalrig Avenue. Emergency services responded, and a 43-year-old woman was transported to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment, where she later died. Her family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers. She has been identified as Ndata Bobb. The man received medical care at St John’s Hospital.”
