This unsettling occurrence was captured by a homeowner’s CCTV system on Laburnum Place, Midlothian, at 2.20am on Thursday, September 25.
The footage shows the man creeping around in darkness, trying to gain access to the back of a white van after a failed attempt to open its side door.
The local community has experienced multiple instances of vehicle break-ins, as reported by Edinburgh Live, with some tradespeople losing tools from their vans.
Moreover, the recorded video captures the suspect, dressed entirely in black, cycling away from the scene after targeting the van on Laburnum Place.
