A man, aged 50, is in custody related to an incident involving a firearm in Renfrew.
Following an alleged firearms violation, a heavy police contingent, including armed officers, was deployed to a street in Renfrew, resulting in a man’s arrest.
The incident was triggered when police were alerted to a man who reportedly walked into a shop on Canal Street wielding a weapon around 2:45 pm on Thursday, February 19.
Video from the site shows armed police encircling what seems to be a betting shop, with a significant law enforcement presence responding to the situation.
Fortunately, the event concluded without any injuries, although police carried out thorough investigations to understand the circumstances surrounding the alleged weapon incident.
As of today, Police Scotland have confirmed the arrest of a 50-year-old male in connection with the incident, and they are continuing their investigation.
A representative from Police Scotland stated, “A 50-year-old man has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing.”
