Dundee Shock: Police Investigate Grave Sexual Assault on Teenage Girl

Police have initiated an investigation following a distressing sexual assault of a teenage girl in Dundee on the night of Friday.

The incident occurred as she was walking along Pentland Avenue in the city sometime between 9 PM and 11:20 PM on September 19.

A 17-year-old girl, who is the victim of this grave assault, is currently receiving support from specialized police officers as the investigation progresses.

Police have been examining CCTV footage from the vicinity and are eager to communicate with anyone who was in the area of Pentland Avenue and nearby streets during the time of the incident. They are also interested in accessing private security footage from residents.

To provide reassurance to the community, police patrols have been increased in the area following the assault.

Detective Inspector Paul Walker, from Dundee’s Public Protection Unit, stated, “Our investigation is still in the preliminary stages, and we urge anyone with any relevant information to come forward. A dedicated team of detectives, together with local policing officers, is conducting thorough inquiries, including reviewing CCTV footage and conducting house-to-house inquiries.”

DI Walker added, “Despite the incident occurring late at night, there were still several vehicles and pedestrians around. We are calling on those who were around Tullideph Road, City Road, Pentland Avenue, Pentland Crescent, Cleghorn Street, and Pitfour Street between the hours of 9 PM and 11:20 PM to contact us. Think back if you noticed anything unusual or suspicious. We are also keen on gathering any private CCTV or dashcam footage from those driving in the area during these times.”

Chief Inspector Rachael Burns, the local area commander, reassured, “We recognize the alarming nature of this incident for the community, but please be assured that we are utilizing all resources at our disposal.”

“Officers will maintain a presence in the area to provide support and gather information. We encourage anyone with concerns or information to approach these officers; they are here to assist you,” she added.
