A man faces charges following a fatal hit-and-run incident involving a motorcyclist in Edinburgh earlier this week.

A 31-year-old man was arrested and charged by Police Scotland for traffic-related offenses after emergency responders were summoned to the A90 Queensferry Road late Tuesday night, around 11:15 PM, following reports of a collision between an unidentified vehicle and a Kawasaki motorcycle.

Despite rapid response, the 61-year-old motorcyclist was declared deceased at the location. The vehicle implicated in the incident reportedly left the scene before authorities could arrive.

Subsequently, the police have located the vehicle involved, and investigations are actively continuing.

Photographs from the scene depict a heavy police presence, processing the site shortly after the incident occurred.

An ambulance was also seen on site as a significant perimeter was established around the location of the crash.

Local residents expressed their distress over the tragic event.

Emma Pearson, a 21-year-old local, shared her feelings with Edinburgh Live, stating, “It’s just really horrible. We’ve witnessed many accidents here; unfortunately, this is not uncommon. I had just returned home around 11 PM last night. I saw the flashing lights and realized the police were directly outside. Observing the police and ambulance activity, I sensed it was a severe incident. Sadly, I was unaware someone had died. My deepest sympathies go to their family.”

Megan Purdie, another local aged 20, commented, “Seeing the ambulance and police cars was disturbing, knowing it happened right outside. Living near the main road has always been unsettling. It’s horrific, and the frequent sight of ambulances adds to the concern.”

Sergeant Paul Ewing from Police Scotland remarked, “We appreciate the public’s help in our investigation and our thoughts are with the deceased’s family. We urge anyone with further information to contact us at 101 with reference 4274 of April 8, 2025.”
