Appeal for Information by “Great British Baking Show” Celebrity
Paul Hollywood, famed for his role as a judge on the “Great British Baking Show,” has turned to the public for assistance following a violent incident involving his brother. The well-known chef and TV figure is requesting any leads that could help identify the perpetrator responsible for what he describes as a severe and unprovoked assault on his brother, Lee Hollywood.
On Sunday, August 10, Paul Hollywood shared a statement from the local authorities on his Instagram page. It detailed an attack that occurred on the evening of Friday, August 8, while the victim was out walking his dog. Paul Hollywood confirmed the victim was his brother, stating, “If you know anything about the assault on Friday night, please be aware the victim was my brother Lee.”
He continued in his post, “Please provide any information you might have following the details provided above. Thank you.” According to the police report, the victim, a man in his fifties, required hospital treatment for injuries sustained to his back and face during the assault in Leasowe, England.
The incident reportedly began when Lee Hollywood’s dog and another dog, which was with a different owner, started barking at each other. “After the dogs were separated, the other owner became aggressive,” the police described. As Lee attempted to walk away, the assailant allegedly attacked him from behind, knocking him to the ground and then kicking him in the face before escaping the scene.
“This brutal and unprovoked attack necessitated hospital care for the victim,” stated a detective. “We urge anyone who was near the Links View Playing Fields or Shackleton Road around 7 p.m. on that day and witnessed or heard the assault, or saw the individual fleeing the area, to contact us.” The police are currently examining surveillance video footage to try and identify the assailant.
Lee Hollywood is also a professional in the baking industry. According to PEOPLE, he operated the artisan bakery Born & Bread in Wirral, Liverpool, which he ran until 2020.
