Tragic Loss: Scots Dad Remembered as Family’s Heart After Fatal Motorcycle Crash

Lorne MacMillan, a resident of Arisaig, succumbed to his injuries following a tragic motorbike crash with a grey Peugeot on the A9 near Latheron on Sunday, August 10.

A father has been identified and his image released after he was killed in a severe accident between his black motorbike and a car.

Lorne MacMillan, hailing from Arisaig, tragically lost his life due to injuries sustained when his motorbike collided with a grey Peugeot on the A9 near Latheron on Sunday, August 10.

First responders arrived at the accident scene around 9:50 am. Lorne was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by air ambulance, where he, unfortunately, passed away on Monday, August 25, despite extensive efforts by medical staff.

His devastated family has expressed their profound grief, describing Lorne as the “centre of our world” in a heartfelt homage.

In a public statement released through Police Scotland, his family shared: “We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved Lorne lost his battle for life last night. Our hearts are irrevocably shattered. He was the center of our universe.

“Lorne played many roles in his life: a beloved partner and best friend, a father, a son, a brother, an uncle, and a friend to countless others. We will never recover from this loss. We kindly ask for privacy as we grapple with the permanent alteration of our lives. We will love you eternally, our dear boy.”

The driver and passenger of the car involved were taken to the hospital as a precaution and were later discharged.

Police have reported that a woman was arrested and charged with a road traffic offense in relation to the accident. She has been released on an undertaking to appear in court at a future date.

The section of the road where the accident took place was closed and subsequently reopened around 5:05 pm.

Sergeant Neil MacDonald stated, “We are actively investigating the exact details of this tragic incident. We urge anyone who witnessed the crash, or has dash-cam footage from that time and area, to come forward as soon as possible.”
