Popular NCIS: Los Angeles Actor Suffers Hand Injury
Bill Goldberg, known for his roles in NCIS: Los Angeles and The Goldbergs, has encountered a setback due to a hand injury.
The former WWE superstar sustained the injury during a bout with GUNTHER for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on July 12. The incident was discussed by Goldberg on his CarCast podcast shortly after the match. He shared that, aside from his hand, the rest of his body including his shoulder, neck, and knee, remained relatively unscathed. “Physically, I feel good after the retirement match. It’s hard to be certain, but I broke my hand at some point during the match. Today seems to be the first day the swelling has gone down enough that I can see veins in my hand again,” Goldberg explained.
Goldberg Commends GUNTHER Despite Injury
Despite the mishap, Goldberg had high praise for his opponent, GUNTHER, crediting him for their match’s success. “I’m tired of people focusing on my complaints rather than realizing it was the second-longest match of my career, and at 58, that’s not a small feat,” he remarked. “There’s no way I could’ve done it without GUNTHER. The guy is simply incredible. It was a privilege to compete with him, and truly, he played a pivotal role in making it all happen. The limits are set by you and your partner, and he really made it awesome. I genuinely enjoyed it.”
Outside of the wrestling ring, Goldberg has enjoyed a diverse acting career. Officially retiring from WWE on July 12, the same day as his debut in 1997, Goldberg has been active in both television and film. He portrayed Department of Justice agent Lance Hamilton on NCIS: Los Angeles from 2018 to 2023 and appeared as coach Nick Mellor on The Goldbergs in 2017 and 2019. His film and TV credits also include roles in The Longest Yard, Santa’s Slay, Half Past Dead 2, The Love Boat: The Next Wave, Family Guy, Kim Possible, Desperate Housewives, Law & Order: SVU, The Flash, and the The Goldbergs spinoff, Schooled.
Although the outcome of Goldberg’s farewell match wasn’t as he had envisioned, he remains positive about the experience and confident in the future of WWE.
