18-year-old Jake Larmour met a tragic end in an accident on the A82 near Glencoe.
A young man lost his life in a severe accident in Glencoe shortly after achieving his dream of climbing Ben Nevis.
Jake Larmour, aged 18, was critically injured in a collision involving a Seat Leon and a bus on the A82 at around 11:15 AM on Thursday, July 3.
First responders arrived quickly at the scene, where Jake, a car passenger, and the vehicle’s driver were urgently transported to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for medical attention.
Sadly, Jake succumbed to his injuries five days after the incident. The condition of the driver remains undisclosed.
In the wake of the incident, Jake’s family and friends have described him as a “beautiful boy”.
He had just returned from a hike up Ben Nevis, a lifelong ambition, only hours before the accident occurred.
A statement released via Police Scotland from his family reads: “Our beautiful baby boy Jake was tragically taken from us following what should have been one of the happiest days of his life.
“He had just fulfilled his dream of climbing Ben Nevis and was on his way home to share his experiences with us.
“Words cannot express our current anguish, having celebrated his 18th birthday just over a week ago, and now we find ourselves planning his funeral.
“We ask for privacy to mourn as a family. Fly high, our darling Jakey.”
The road where the accident occurred was closed for eight hours to facilitate an official investigation.
Sergeant Ewan Calder from the police department commented, “Our thoughts are with Jake’s family and friends during this incredibly tough time.
“We are still investigating the details of the crash and urge anyone who was on the A82 at the time of the incident and witnessed the events, to come forward.
“Additionally, we request that any drivers who were in the vicinity before the accident and have relevant information or dash-cam footage, to contact us as it may be crucial to our inquiries.”
