By Emily Anderson

King Charles has partnered with a major figure from the entertainment industry for his new initiative.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, King Charles and actor Idris Elba are collaborating on a Netflix documentary that is particularly meaningful to both of them.

The film will focus on The King’s Trust, commemorating its 50th anniversary in 2026. Currently without a title, the documentary is expected to start production towards the end of June and is planned to premiere in the autumn of 2026.

Originally known as The Prince’s Trust, Charles’ organization was renamed following his rise to the monarchy. The Trust is dedicated to assisting young individuals in the UK to find direction in their lives. Elba himself benefited from The King’s Trust early in his career, which helped him break into acting.

“The King’s Trust was pivotal in transforming my life,” stated Elba, who later established the Elba Hope Foundation. “When I was at a point without means to chase my dreams, they provided substantial support, including financial aid, which propelled me towards my career beginnings.”

“Now, with the Elba Hope Foundation, my goal is to extend the same chances to young individuals brimming with potential yet deprived of opportunities,” Elba elaborated. “Globally, countless young people are still hoping for that breakthrough opportunity. This documentary aims to showcase the potential unleashed by such opportunities and the critical role The King’s Trust plays in this regard.”

The documentary will not only trace Elba’s journey with The King’s Trust but will also feature personal stories from some of the million beneficiaries who have been supported by the organization over the past five decades.
