Julien Marchand was one of two motorcyclists who tragically died within 24 hours on Scotland’s roads this past weekend.
48-year-old Julien Marchand tragically lost his life in a severe collision involving a motorcycle and a transit van in Argyll.
The accident occurred on the A819 near Tullich at approximately 4:05 PM on Friday, May 23, involving a Triumph Tiger motorcycle and a Ford Transit Luton van.
Sadly, Julien, the motorcyclist, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the van driver was unharmed.
In the aftermath of this tragic event, Julien’s family has requested privacy during this difficult time.
Authorities closed the road for about ten hours to conduct a thorough investigation of the accident.
Sergeant Kenneth Malaney from Police Scotland expressed his condolences, stating, “Our thoughts remain with Julien’s family and friends as they come to terms with their loss.”
“We are continuing our investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash and urge anyone with any information to come forward and speak with the police,” he added.
“If you have any information that might help our investigation, please contact the police at 101, quoting incident 2380 of 23 May 2025,” urged Sergeant Malaney.
This was the second fatal incident on Scotland’s roads within 24 hours over the weekend.
Another motorcyclist, Kris Leitch, was killed in a separate incident in Ayrshire the following day.
34-year-old Kris was riding a blue and white Sherco 290 motorcycle when he crashed on Main Street, Auchinleck, around 2:25 AM on Saturday, May 24.
Kris was declared deceased at the location of the accident. The scene was closed for about six hours for investigative purposes.
The family of Kris has also requested privacy during this profoundly sorrowful time.
Sergeant Brian Simpson stated, “Our thoughts are with Kris’s family and friends as they deal with this devastating loss.
“We are actively seeking information from anyone who might have seen the motorcycle before the accident or has dashcam footage. We also wish to talk to those who helped at the scene but left before providing their details,” he continued.
“If you have any information that can aid our investigation, please call the police at 101, quoting incident 0082 of 24 May 2025,” concluded Sergeant Simpson.
