A British couple who were on board the Air India flight that tragically crashed en route to the UK had shared a video from the airport as they were about to embark.

Fiongal and Jamie Greenlaw-Meek, who operated a spiritual wellness center, talked about their deep connection and love for India just hours before their Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner tragically descended into a building, catching fire in a suburb of Ahmedabad, Gujarat’s largest city.

The flight, carrying 242 individuals including 53 British nationals, was headed towards Gatwick Airport.

In their last Instagram post before boarding Flight AI171, the couple expressed their serenity about returning, stating they were “going back happily, happily, happily calm.”

At the airport, Fiongal mentioned, “We are just boarding. Goodbye India, on a 10-hour flight back to London.”

In previous videos posted online, Fiongal, sitting next to his husband, shared their joy at the “treasures” they had acquired during their trip as reminders of their journey.

He elaborated, “It’s our last night in India, and we’ve truly had a magical experience with quite mind-blowing events occurring.”

Jamie continued, “We’ve indeed been on an incredible journey, spending our last night here in this wonderful hotel, and just enjoyed the most delicious Tali food. It was the perfect conclusion to our trip. Excited to share everything with you.”

The couple operated The Wellness Foundry in south London and Ramsgate, offering services like psychic readings, tarot, reiki, and yoga.

Fiongal had appeared on ITV’s This Morning to discuss spirituality in January and had previously spoken in a magazine interview about his “Celtic roots,” noting his father’s Scottish heritage and his mother’s Irish background.

He stated, “I believe culturally, there is so much magic in Ireland and Scotland.”

Fiongal and Jamie have been partners since 2019 and were married in a ceremony in Las Vegas in 2022.

A police commissioner reported that there appeared to be no survivors from the Thursday afternoon disaster.

Ahmedabad police commissioner Gyanendra Singh Malik informed the Associated Press, “It is likely that some locals have also perished in the crash.”

According to Air India, the flight had 169 Indian nationals, 53 British, one Canadian, and seven Portuguese passengers.
