A Fond Farewell from a Dedicated Sports Anchor

After a noteworthy three-year tenure, one sports anchor from NBC has concluded her journey in Odessa, Texas.

Jenna Elique, who served as a sports anchor at KWES-NBC, also known as NewsWest 9, made her final on-air appearance on May 5.

On her last day, Elique took to Twitter/X to share her departure with her followers. “PERSONAL NEWS: Today is my last day at NewsWest 9. I’ve been blessed to serve the Permian Basin sports community for nearly three years, but it’s time to say goodbye,” she posted. She invited her audience to join her for one last broadcast that evening.

Two days post her final appearance, Elique again expressed her sentiments via Twitter/X, posting a video from her farewell segment. “Signing off! Monday was my last day at NewsWest 9 after almost three years as the weekday Sports Anchor,” she reflected. Elique expressed her gratitude towards the community and the people she met, who made West Texas feel like a second home.

Elique started her role at KWES-NBC in July 2022, where she not only anchored sports news but also excelled as a multimedia journalist. As of now, Elique has not disclosed any plans for her future career path nor confirmed whether she will continue in sports journalism.
