As Timothée Chalamet accepted the Critics Choice Award for Best Actor on Sunday, he didn’t miss the opportunity to acknowledge his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner. He earned the award for his portrayal of the determined ping-pong player Marty Mauser in Marty Supreme.
“Thank you to my partner of three years. I love you. I couldn’t have done this without you,” Chalamet expressed, glancing towards Jenner. “My deepest thanks.”
Following his words, the camera captured Jenner silently saying, “I love you,” in response.
Chalamet also made a point to commend Marty Supreme’s director, producer, and co-writer, Josh Safdie, in his acceptance speech. “Josh, you brought to life a story of an imperfect man chasing a common dream, without dictating the moral compass to the audience, and I believe that’s how storytelling should be,” said the Academy Award-nominated actor. “I’m grateful for this opportunity.”
Since their romantic linkage was first rumored in April 2023, Chalamet and Jenner have appeared together at various awards ceremonies, making their first official appearance at the 2024 Golden Globes. The couple drew significant attention last month when they donned coordinated orange Chrome Hearts outfits at the Los Angeles premiere of Marty Supreme on December 8.
Their distinctive fashion choices were highlighted again on Sunday, as Hacks stars Meg Stalter and Paul W. Downs appeared on the red carpet in outfits strikingly similar to those worn by Chalamet and Jenner, which had previously made headlines.
Apart from Best Actor, Marty Supreme received nominations for Best Picture, Best Casting and Ensemble, Best Production Design, and Best Editing at the Critics Choice Awards, though it did not win Best Picture, losing to Leonardo DiCaprio’s One Battle After Another.
Chalamet remains hopeful about Marty Supreme’s chances at the upcoming Academy Awards, embodying the confidence of his character, Marty Mauser. He recently shared his optimism about securing a win for what he described as a “top-notch” performance.
“This is in Marty’s spirit, and I see this as a truly unique film during a time when original films are rare,” he told IndieWire. “The film is about the relentless pursuit of a dream. I’m giving it my all – from the merchandise to the interviews and everything in between, I’m pushing it as far and wide as possible, in true Marty Mauser style.”
