By Emily Anderson

Janet Montgomery is soon to be a mother for the second time!

Last month, the former star of New Amsterdam excitedly shared on Instagram her pregnancy news, revealing that she and her husband Joe Fox are expecting their second child.

On Monday, April 21, Montgomery posted a charming family photo taken at the beach, featuring herself, Fox, and their 6-year-old daughter, Sunday Juno Fox. The photo, which focuses on their feet in the sand and avoids showing their faces, was captioned, “our little clan is expanding and we couldn’t be more excited.” In the picture, Montgomery’s pregnancy is clearly visible.

The announcement was met with an outpouring of joy from her fans and colleagues. Michelle Randolph, Montgomery’s co-star from 1923, extended her congratulations, while actor Tom Rooke expressed his excitement with “Amazing!!! Huge congrats lovely!” Actress Wunmi Mosaku also joined in, commenting, “Congratulations Janet!! How wonderful!!!”

This upcoming addition marks the second child for Montgomery and her spouse, Joe Fox, who is a creative director and copywriter. The pair, who started dating in 2017, first became parents with the birth of their daughter, Sunday, in March 2019—a moment that Fox later described as “one of the scariest most precious moments of my life.”

Montgomery recounted the intense experience of her first childbirth, noting, “We went in Thursday evening when my contractions started and after a grueling 22 hours of laboring, both me and the baby got sick. My incredible doctors determined that our beautiful baby girl was in distress and I had developed a uterus infection.” She added, “Sunday was delivered via emergency C-section at 8:59 pm. Throughout my four days in the hospital, I felt nothing but confidence from every single doctor, nurse, and PA I encountered.”

The couple tied the knot in Jamaica in November 2019, an occasion Montgomery describes as “one of the greatest days of my life.”

Montgomery is widely recognized for her role as Dr. Lauren Bloom in NBC’s medical drama New Amsterdam, which she starred in for five seasons from 2018 to 2022. Her other notable roles include Olivia Maine in This Is Us, Freda Dudley Ward in Downton Abby, and Rebecca Egan in Quantum Leap. She was most recently seen in 1923.
