Farewell to Bruni Heinke, Beloved Dutch Soap Opera Icon

Bruni Heinke, renowned for her role in the iconic Dutch soap opera Goede tijden, slechte tijden (translated as Good Times, Bad Times), has passed away.

Heinke’s death was attributed to cancer and occurred on Friday, March 7, as confirmed by her family to the ANP news agency, with details reported by NOS. She was 84 years old.

A Legacy in Dutch Television

Heinke’s most memorable role was that of Helen Helmink in Goede tijden, slechte tijden. This show, which first aired in October 1990, holds the title of the longest-running soap opera in the Netherlands and explores the lives of those in the fictional town of Meerdijk. Heinke joined the soap in 1992, succeeding Marlous Fluitsma, and appeared in over 650 episodes until 1997. Plans had been in place for her to return to the show for its 35th anniversary, but her worsening health prevented her from participating.

According to a source speaking to Story, “Last year, the GTST team planned for Bruni as Helen Helmink to make a comeback for the soap’s 35th anniversary. However, when they reached out to her, it turned out she was too ill to perform the scenes. It’s incredibly sad. Her last big wish went unfulfilled.”
