Jenna Bush Hager is actively seeking a new co-host to join her on the TODAY show, following Hoda Kotb’s departure.
During a recent discussion with PEOPLE, 43-year-old Bush Hager shared that they have yet to find a replacement for 60-year-old Kotb, who left the NBC morning program in January to dedicate more time to her family.
“We’re still on the lookout,” Bush Hager explained to the publication. “Eventually, we aim to find a permanent co-host because that’s the essence of our show. The TODAY show feels like a family, and finding the right person to fill that seat is significant for all of us. It will happen,” she assured. “For now, we’re taking things one day at a time and there haven’t been any new developments, but stay tuned,” she added.
Bush Hager and Kotb were co-hosts on TODAY with Hoda & Jenna from April 2019 until Kotb’s exit earlier this year. Following Kotb’s departure, the fourth hour of the show was renamed TODAY with Jenna & Friends, with Bush Hager hosting alongside a variety of guest co-hosts.
Kotb made a brief return to the show last week when she appeared to promote her new wellness brand, Joy 101, which launched on May 28. “It was so delightful,” Bush Hager remarked about their reunion. “There’s this unbreakable bond that doesn’t weaken with time. Being with her again felt calming to my nerves. It was the perfect way to reunite. It felt truly wonderful.”
