Nate Bargatze to Emcee 77th Emmy Awards
Comedian Nate Bargatze is set to host the upcoming 77th Emmy Awards.
Known for his clean humor, Bargatze will take the stage as the host of the 2025 Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 14, as announced by CBS on Wednesday.
“Being selected to host such a prestigious event is a tremendous privilege, and I am thrilled about collaborating with CBS to deliver an enjoyable evening for families worldwide,” Bargatze expressed in a press release.
Bargatze’s Comedy Triumphs
Currently one of the leading stand-up comedians, Bargatze has sold over 1.2 million tickets in his 2024 tour, making him the highest-earning comedian globally according to Pollstar.
Bargatze’s impressive portfolio includes six stand-up specials. His latest Netflix release, Your Friend, Nate Bargatze, follows his 2021 special The Greatest Average American, which earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Comedy Album.
“Nate’s unique comedic style has captured the hearts of fans across generations worldwide,” remarked Cris Abrego, chair of the Television Academy. “We are excited to have his distinctive voice headlining this year’s Emmy telecast, promising a memorable evening for television enthusiasts everywhere.”
Emmy Hosting Legacy
Prior Emmy ceremonies have seen a variety of hosts, including the father-son duo Eugene Levy and Dan Levy, as well as notable comedians Anthony Anderson, Kenan Thompson, and Cedric the Entertainer. Most recently, Nikki Glaser hosted the Golden Globes and Conan O’Brien led the Academy Awards, both set to return to their hosting duties in 2026.
The nominations for the 2025 Emmy Awards are scheduled to be announced on July 15. The Creative Arts Emmy Awards will precede the main event, taking place on Saturday, September 6, and Sunday, September 7. Bargatze will then host the primary Emmy Award ceremony on Sunday, September 14 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, broadcast on CBS and available for streaming live and on demand on Paramount+.
