A Maryland woman won a million Powerball prize, making her one of four second-tier prize winners in a draw where no one hit the jackpot. The lottery officials were on the lookout for this lucky winner since September.
Interestingly, the woman, who resides in Worchester County, had forgotten about buying the ticket until she found it in her wallet. She works in a warehouse and once the ticket was discovered, she sent it with her husband to check if it was a winner. The store clerk at the Duck In II, where she bought the ticket, confirmed the win, leaving her husband in shock.
The woman, on hearing the news from her husband, was initially incredulous. After all, it is not every day that one finds out they've won a million dollars. The winning numbers on her ticket were 1, 7, 46, 47, and 63 with the Powerball number being 7.
Due to no one matching all the numbers in the draw, the jackpot has swelled to nearly billion. For the Duck In II store, where the ticket was purchased, there is also good news. The store is set to receive a ,500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
Last but not least, the woman and her husband have already made plans on what they would do with their newfound wealth. In line with their love for animals, they have decided to donate a portion of their winnings to animal rescue charities. They also intend to use the money to pay off their mortgage, thereby relieving themselves of a significant financial burden.
