At the 2025 VMAs, Lady Gaga once again captured the spotlight with her distinctive flair.

Dressed entirely in black and sporting similarly colored hair, the iconic performer known as Mother Monster took the stage upon receiving the Artist of the Year award.

During her time on stage, the singer of “Just Dance” gave a moving speech.

“I’ve been reflecting on what it means to receive an award for artistry, an endeavor that is inherently fulfilling,” she said. “To be an artist is to forge connections with people globally. It’s about discipline and craftsmanship, reaching into the depths of someone’s heart, taking root there, and inspiring them to dream.”

She continued, “Being an artist means having the duty to make people smile, dance, weep, and find release. It’s about fostering understanding and celebrating our shared humanity.”

Lady Gaga expressed her wish for everyone to recognize the value of art in their daily lives and to rely on their “simple skills” to maintain their integrity.

“The dedication you show in your practice, your discipline, your craft—it’s all driven by passion and deserves recognition,” she asserted. “The path you take in life is uniquely yours, and it’s both iconic and rare.”

Gaga dedicated her trophy to the audience, emphasizing their right to recognition. “You all deserve your moment in the spotlight,” she declared. “I give you all my applause. Thank you to my Little Monsters, my fans, for your constant support and for always embracing the monster within me.”

In addition to winning Artist of the Year, Lady Gaga was up for 11 other awards at the VMAs, including Video of the Year and Best Album.
