Joy Behar has made her return to The View following a “very, very, very painful” injury that caused her to be absent for four days from the ABC daytime talk show.
The 83-year-old co-host rejoined The View on Friday after being away from the program from Monday through Thursday. She shared with viewers that she had injured herself by accidentally dropping an iPad on her foot, resulting in a broken toe.
“I’ve been away for a few days, which you may have noticed,” Behar mentioned on Friday’s show. “What happened was I dropped my iPad directly onto my foot, breaking my toe in the process,” she added.
Behar then raised her foot onto the table to display the medical splints binding three of her toes together. “They bind the toes like this because the toe is broken,” she detailed. “And let me tell you, it’s extremely painful. I strongly advise against dropping anything on your toes,” she cautioned.
During the conversation, Behar’s co-host Ana Navarro, 53, disclosed that another co-host, Sunny Hostin, had ironically suggested Behar get a “larger” iPad just a few weeks prior to the accident, a suggestion Behar now humorously called a “very sadistic” idea.
“Manny and I found out that Joy had an accident with her iPad,” Hostin, aged 57, chimed in, referring to herself and her husband Emmanuel, an orthopedic surgeon. “I immediately texted Joy to offer Manny’s help during his office hours, or even at her house, though that didn’t happen. Instead, Manny asked for a picture of her foot,” Hostin explained.
Although Behar initially insisted that there was no swelling or bruising following the accident, Hostin indicated otherwise.
“Upon seeing the photo, her third toe resembled her big toe,” Hostin remembered, while Behar joked that she couldn’t spot any bruising due to the “glamour lighting” in her house.
