Jennie Garth Struggles with the Loss of “Beverly Hills, 90210” Co-Stars
Jennie Garth has expressed ongoing disbelief over the deaths of her former “Beverly Hills, 90210” castmates, Luke Perry and Shannen Doherty. On the “Two Jersey Js” podcast, which aired on Wednesday, March 26, Garth, aged 52, discussed her difficulty in coming to terms with the tragic losses of Perry in March 2019 following a severe stroke, and Doherty in 2023 after a prolonged fight with cancer.
“It just doesn’t compute. My mind can’t fully accept that they’re gone,” Garth shared, revealing how she copes with the absence of her co-stars. “In my mind, they are still very much alive, which makes it hard to grasp that they’re no longer here in the physical world.”
Jennie Garth has previously spoken about how deeply the passing of her friends and colleagues has affected her. Regarding Doherty’s death, Garth admitted that she was still in a state of shock, despite knowing about her cancer since 2015. “It’s bizarre how shocking it still is, knowing how long and hard she battled with the illness,” she remarked. Garth emphasized that Doherty’s resilient spirit made it seem unlikely to her that cancer could be the cause of her demise. “It’s just bewildering and brings about so many intense emotions – anger, sadness, confusion. You just find yourself asking, ‘Why her?'” she stated.
