Nicole Kidman has marked a personal milestone in the wake of her divorce from Keith Urban.
The 58-year-old Oscar winner shared on Instagram on Wednesday that she has now set foot on all seven continents, after arriving in Antarctica on a voyage with her two daughters with the country star — Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
She thanked the cruise line, SilverSea, in the caption accompanying travel photos and celebrated reaching the final continent. Kidman described the journey as a rare family adventure, and included a picture of herself and her daughters holding a sign commemorating the achievement.
The photo gallery also featured images of Kidman standing on the ship’s deck and mingling with other members of her travel party. In another post, the Big Little Lies star posed alongside a close friend and shared a close-up shot of penguins encountered on the trip.
Kidman’s Antarctic excursion took place about two weeks after her divorce from Urban was finalized, ending a marriage that lasted nearly two decades. She had officially filed for divorce on Jan. 6, following public reports of their split that surfaced in September.
Under the terms of their divorce agreement — the pair married in 2006 — both Kidman and Urban waived any right to spousal or child support. Custody arrangements give Kidman 306 days with their daughters each year, while Urban will have them every other weekend, totaling 59 days.
Last October, Kidman spoke to Harper’s Bazaar about weathering hard times and the benefits of aging. She reflected on how accumulating life experiences brings a clearer sense that challenges can be survived. Rather than trying to avoid painful feelings, she said it’s necessary to experience them and move through them gradually; although healing can be slow and at times overwhelming, it eventually happens.
Through the recent travel photos and her interviews, Kidman appears focused on family, travel and moving forward after the end of her marriage.
