Iconic Scots Designer Pam Hogg Passes Away: Celebrities Honor Her Legacy

The distinguished designer from Paisley, who had been under care at St John’s Hospice in Hackney, collaborated with high-profile figures like Princess Eugenie and Beyonce throughout her vibrant career.

Fashion innovator Pam Hogg, acclaimed for her collaborations with icons like Princess Eugenie and Beyonce, has died serenely at an East London hospice. Her family announced her passing on social media this evening.

The legendary designer was undergoing treatment at St John’s Hospice in Hackney, where she passed away in the company of her loved ones. Hailing from Paisley, Hogg was a pioneering figure in the British fashion scene during the 1980s.

On Wednesday, her family conveyed the heartbreaking news. Posting a photograph of Hogg posing on a beach, the Mirror reported the family’s statement: “The Hogg Family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Pamela.”

“We are thankful knowing that her last moments were peaceful, surrounded by the loving care of dear friends and family. We extend our gratitude to all the personnel at St Joseph’s Hospice, Hackney, for their wonderful support during Pamela’s final days.”

“Pamela’s creative spirit and extensive body of work have touched many lives across generations, leaving behind a profound legacy that will continue to inspire, delight, and challenge us to defy the ordinary. Pamela will forever reside in our hearts and memories. A remarkable life, cherished and celebrated.”

Many friends and admirers of the designer have since expressed their heartfelt tributes on social media to the late star and her family. Ana Matronic from Scissor Sisters stated: “Professor Hogg, fearless and brilliant. Fly, sister xx.”

Sadie Frost commented with three heart emojis, “Love you Pam,” while TV chef Andi Oliver expressed: “I am so heartbroken to hear about our darling Pam. What a WOMAN!! The one and ONLY!!”

TV presenter Fearne Cotton shared her sentiments, saying: “Pam. Oh Pam. What a joy it was to know you. I’ll miss you, Pam.”

Shirley Manson of the band Garbage also paid homage on social media, writing: “That’s you away then hen. Our dear, most distinguished doctor. Our revered Scottish fashion queen. Thank you for it all. The brilliance and the bravery and the extraordinary, explosive sense of humor that perpetually propelled you forward with tremendous force.

“The Iconoclastic and fantastic Dr. Hogg may have left the runway, but you will be found in the long and storied history of British fashion and in the imaginative, pioneering work of each and every fashion designer who follows in your wake. The world has lost a bona fide original.”

“A one of one. A jewel of a human being. You will be missed. Love love love to your family and to all those that loved you deeply. Your community is in mourning. I can practically hear you cackling from the heavens, enjoying the dark theatre and spectacle of it all.”

Hogg became a household name in the 80s after she pioneered latex, mesh, and razor-sharp looks, which became favorites in the underground club scene. She also styled many of the most well-known artists of our time, including Beyonce, Rihanna, Kylie Minogue, Debbie Harry, Björk, Grace Jones, and Lady Gaga.

The Scot also had the opportunity to dress royalty, as the late Princess Diana also sported one of her outfits. Princess Eugenie was also seen wearing a custom Pam Hogg black and white hat to the Royal Ascot in 2013.

Hogg also showcased some of her artwork at the Saatchi Gallery, directed music videos, and was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Glasgow School of Art.
