First responders were dispatched to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary following an emergency alert issued at approximately 5:30 PM on Friday.

A specific section of the hospital was cleared out after two individuals were reportedly attacked.

Authorities and emergency personnel hurried to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary once they were notified of the incident late Friday afternoon.

A photograph provided to the Record showed numerous police and fire service vehicles present at the scene.

It is believed that the police were called to the scene following reports that a male individual had assaulted two people inside the hospital facility.

The victims received immediate medical treatment at the location. However, the severity of their injuries had not been disclosed at the time.

Following the assault, a portion of the hospital was evacuated as part of the emergency response, and police investigations are ongoing to determine the complete details of the incident.

A spokesperson from Police Scotland stated, “At around 5:30 PM on Friday, October 10, 2025, we were informed about an assault involving a man and two other individuals at a hospital in Aberdeen. Emergency services arrived promptly, and two individuals received on-site treatment. The area was evacuated as a precautionary measure. Our efforts to fully understand the situation are continuing.”

The NHS Grampian later stated that the emergency department was reopened on the same Friday evening, although there was a backlog of patients due to the earlier closure.

Laura Skaife-Knight, Chief Executive, remarked, “An earlier incident at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary necessitated the temporary closure of our emergency department. The department is now operational again. We are currently managing a significant patient backlog and urge only those with emergencies to come in. For non-emergency situations, please call NHS 24 on 111. However, for life-threatening conditions like suspected strokes or heart attacks, dial 999 immediately.”

“We are unable to provide further comments on the incident due to its nature,” added a hospital representative.
