Heartbreaking Double Tragedy: Mother and Baby Die 9 Months Apart, Devastating Family

In November, 34-year-old Paula Edgar died, following the death of her six-month-old daughter Pixie, who passed away on February 24.

A Scottish family is grappling with immense grief after the deaths of a young mother and her baby daughter within a span of nine months.

Paula Edgar, aged 34, succumbed to her demise in November, following her infant daughter Pixie’s death at just six months on February 24. Pixie’s life was tragically cut short by Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS) while she was being bathed by her mother earlier in the year.

Paula had endured an 18-year struggle to become a mother, including multiple IVF attempts, before she conceived Pixie just before Christmas in 2024. The loss of her daughter deeply affected Paula, leading to her suffering from seizures caused by two brain tumors.

The prospect of facing her first Christmas without Pixie was overwhelmingly painful for Paula, contributing to her untimely death. This double tragedy has left Paula’s mother, Diane, absolutely heartbroken.

Diane, residing in Blantyre, South Lanarkshire, shared with Glasgow Live, “Paula was the most joyful, loving, and kind-hearted person you could ever meet. She was simply elated with life and cherished it deeply. All that changed when we lost Pixie. She became a mere shadow of herself.”

“She had expressed her desire to be a mother since she was 16. It seemed like it might never happen for her, even after several IVF cycles. Then, miraculously, she got pregnant with Pixie.”

“Pixie was her whole world. She was incredibly devoted to that beautiful little girl. Our first Christmas with Pixie was the happiest we’ve ever been. She was truly one of the most wonderful souls.”

Discussing the upcoming holiday season, Diane remarked, “Paula had such a vibrant, loud laugh that filled the room, and now there’s just silence. Christmas will be difficult without her.”

“Her presence was felt by everyone because she was so well-loved in the community. We will remember her for the incredible person she was and the thousands of lives she touched.”

“She was my little sidekick, and I’m at a loss without her. She was truly one in a million. I’ll miss her laugh the most.”
