Grammy-Nominated Artist Cancels North American Tour Due to Low Ticket Sales

A Grammy-nominated musician recently had to make the tough decision to cancel his North American tour because he sold only 20 tickets for multiple concerts.

JP Saxe, a Canadian singer-songwriter recognized for his 2019 Grammy-nominated song “If The World Was Ending” featuring Julia Michaels, his former partner, announced the cancellation through an Instagram Reel.

The Make Yourself At Home tour was scheduled to include 32 performances across the United States in venues that can accommodate 2,000 attendees each. However, the pre-sale tickets for several dates did not surpass the 20-ticket mark.

“I’m extremely embarrassed to share this, but I’m going to do it anyway. If I don’t manage to sell approximately 20,000 tickets in the next 48 hours, the tour will have to be called off,” Saxe expressed in his initial video post. A subsequent update revealed that despite a slight increase in sales following the video, the numbers were still insufficient, leading to the official cancellation of the tour.

Heartfelt Messages and Refunds

In a follow-up Instagram Reel, Saxe expressed his appreciation to his fans, stating he was “incredibly grateful” and remarked that it was “the nicest the internet has ever been to me.” He assured those who had bought tickets that they would receive a refund accompanied by “a side of gratitude from a crazy, redheaded Canadian.”

Saxe’s second studio album, A Grey Area, was launched in 2023, and his latest EP, Make Yourself At Home, was released on June 27 of the same year.
