Gangster Associate’s Plush Edinburgh Home Firebombed: Fresh Attack Targets Mark Richardson’s Pal

By Benjamin Harrison

A violent arson incident struck the home of David McMillan, known associate of notorious criminal Mark Richardson, endangering sleeping children within.

In a recent escalation of underworld conflicts, the Edinburgh residence of David McMillan, a known associate of infamous gangster Mark Richardson, was attacked with incendiary devices early this morning while children were asleep inside.

The assault occurred when two masked individuals ignited the front door of McMillan’s home before hastily escaping the scene. This deliberate act of arson marks another grim chapter in the ongoing gangland hostilities.

The timing of the arson attack coincides with the sixth anniversary of the murder of Bradley Welsh, a former Trainspotting T2 actor and acquaintance of McMillan, aged 54. The connection between the date of the attack and Welsh’s assassination suggests a chillingly deliberate choice by the assailants.

A close source expressed outrage at the attack, highlighting the presence of children and underscoring the ruthless nature of those involved. “David is absolutely furious. It’s known that kids and women should not be dragged into these disputes, yet these attackers showed no regard for such boundaries,” the source commented.

The source also noted a strategic shift among criminal elements. “Mr. Big has turned his focus back to Edinburgh after his enforcers in Glasgow encountered significant pressures from law enforcement, forcing them to lay low for a while. Although the police presence was heavy in Edinburgh recently, it has since decreased, prompting renewed activities from these elements. The Daniel family should remain wary as their feud with Mr. Big is far from over,” added the source.

A spokesperson from Police Scotland reported, “We were alerted to a fire incident at a property on Pitcairn Grove in Edinburgh shortly after 2 AM on Thursday, 17 April, 2025. The fire was successfully extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, and fortunately, there were no injuries. The incident is currently being treated as intentional, with investigations ongoing.”

Representatives from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service stated, “Upon receiving reports of a house fire at 1:46 AM, we dispatched two fire engines and specialist units to the location. Our teams worked diligently to control and extinguish the fire at the two-story building. After ensuring the area was secure, our crews departed at around 2:57 AM.”

In a related historical incident, Sean Orman, the convicted murderer of Bradley Welsh, was also found guilty of attempting to murder McMillan in a separate machete assault.

During Welsh’s murder trial, David McMillan’s son recounted a horrifying attack at their family home in Morningside. He described how he and his girlfriend were upstairs when he heard distressing noises from below. Rushing downstairs, he encountered a terrifying scene: three masked intruders, one of whom was assaulting his father with a large sword in their kitchen.

Armed only with a replica prop from The Walking Dead, which resembled a barbed wire-wrapped bat but was in fact hollow plastic, the younger McMillan intervened. He struck the attacker, causing the assailant to retreat and eventually flee with his accomplices, who were similarly dressed in black tracksuits and woolen balaclavas, reminiscent of typical robbery attire.

Following the attack, a 999 call was made where David McMillan Jr. requested an ambulance, explicitly stating that police intervention was not needed, underscoring the complex and often hostile relationship between law enforcement and individuals involved in criminal activities.

This recent incident not only highlights the ongoing violence associated with gang rivalries but also the perilous situations that families, unwittingly or otherwise, can find themselves in due to associations with the criminal underworld.
