A renowned Japanese actress has recently announced her pregnancy with her significantly younger partner.
Yoko Maki, celebrated for her performances in films such as The Grudge and The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, has captured the media’s attention once again. This time, the news is about her personal life, as she and 27-year-old actor Katsushika Shin, who gained fame from his role in the 2025 hit Japanese crime drama Keishicho Mayaku Torishimarika Mogura, are expecting a baby together.
Maki was previously married to actor Katayama Reo in 2008, and the couple welcomed a daughter in 2009. However, their marriage ended in divorce by 2015.
Sharing her joy on a YouTube channel she runs with her brother, Maki excitedly revealed her pregnancy to her fans. “I, Yoko Maki, am pregnant… The baby is already making its presence felt through movements,” she shared.
Discussing her relationship with Shin, Maki mentioned, “We haven’t made our union official through marriage, but we are committed to a shared future. We aim to support each other’s independence and live together over the long term without the bonds of a formal contract.”
Maki described her pregnancy as something of a “miracle,” expressing some natural concerns about potential health issues due to her age but reassured her followers that the pregnancy is progressing well.
“This time around, I am taking even greater care of my mental and physical health than I did during my first pregnancy. I ask for everyone’s kind support and thoughts until the birth,” she conveyed.
