Ex-CBS actress marks new chapter with first child: filmmaker partner by her side

One of the more divisive former players from CBS’s MacGyver reboot has just become a parent.

Isabel Lucas, who portrayed Samantha Cage on the series, announced on Instagram that she and her partner, surf-documentarian Cyrus Sutton, have welcomed a baby. Lucas had been posting numerous photos showing her pregnancy throughout 2025 and revealed the arrival of their child on Dec. 23.

In her Instagram message, Lucas celebrated the birth of their son and expressed gratitude for the support and spiritual signs she’s noticed. She wrote about feeling “angels” in many forms — in synchronicities, intuitive nudges, supportive communities, and in nature — and reflected on how those experiences helped transform fear into love and opened up new possibilities.

Lucas is most widely recognized for her stint on MacGyver during its second season. Her résumé also includes appearances in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, the Australian soap Home and Away, and NBC’s short-lived Oz-inspired drama Emerald City. In recent years, however, she has been the target of considerable criticism.

During the COVID-19 pandemic Lucas promoted a range of false and potentially harmful claims about vaccines, and she circulated conspiracy theories that linked 5G cellular towers to the virus. At one point she even compared controversial figure Pete Evans — a celebrity chef who drew ire for his pandemic-related views — to Jesus, which drew further backlash.

Years earlier, Lucas courted controversy for activist reasons. In 2007, Japanese officials issued an arrest warrant after she attempted to interfere with a dolphin hunt as a protest. She left Japan before authorities could detain her.
