Renowned guitarist Carlos Santana has unexpectedly postponed an upcoming performance due to a health issue.
The celebrated musician and frontman of Santana was forced to reschedule his performance slated for Tuesday at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio following a health concern, according to a statement given to Entertainment Weekly by his spokesperson.
“It is with deep regret that I announce the postponement of tonight’s performance in San Antonio,” Michael Vrionis, Santana’s manager, stated. “While Mr. Santana was at the Majestic Theatre preparing for the event, he suffered a medical incident recognized as dehydration. For his safety and health, we saw it fit to delay the concert to a later date.
“Thankfully, he is in good condition and eagerly anticipates his return to San Antonio and the continuation of his tour across the United States. We are grateful for everyone’s understanding and will announce the rescheduled date shortly.”
Following the incident, Santana was quickly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and is currently on the mend. While he has an upcoming performance in Sugar Land, Texas on Wednesday, and two additional shows in Oklahoma the following week, it remains unclear whether these events will proceed as planned.
Santana has already performed three concerts this year in support of his latest album, Sentient, which boasts collaborations with legendary figures such as Michael Jackson, Miles Davis, Smokey Robinson, among others.
The initial trio of performances took place in Highland, California, as well as Phoenix and Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Should the tour progress without further interruptions, Santana is scheduled to undertake a residency at the House of Blues in Las Vegas this May, embark on a European tour, and then return to Las Vegas for the continuation of his residency in September.
