Cassie Ventura Faces Legal Setback in Battle Against Sean “Diddy” Combs
Vocal artist Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura has encountered a significant setback in her ongoing legal issues with former partner, the embattled music executive Sean “Diddy” Combs. As the founder of Bad Boy Records prepares for his upcoming trial on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, he has been permitted limited access to preliminary drafts of Cassie’s memoir, which reportedly includes accounts of their tumultuous relationship.
According to Hip Hop Dox, the decision to grant Diddy access came after Cassie attempted to quash his subpoena. Diddy’s legal representatives demanded that the “Me and You” artist provide any “draft memoirs, autobiographies, personal narratives, diaries, journals, or notes… and any correspondence regarding plans to publish or threats to publish such materials.”
In the wake of her explosive $30 million civil lawsuit against Diddy filed in November 2023—which he settled within 24 hours for an undisclosed sum—Diddy has labeled Cassie’s allegations of long-term sexual, physical, financial, and emotional abuse as an attempt to extort money. He claimed she had demanded the settlement in return for not releasing a potentially damaging tell-all book. In her motion to dismiss his subpoena, Cassie also alleged that Diddy had requested her banking records.
The court has ordered that Cassie must submit the initial versions of her manuscript before Diddy’s trial begins. His legal team argued that these drafts might contain inconsistencies that could undermine Cassie’s claims in her legal filings. Cassie and her legal team, however, contended that these documents were not pertinent to the case and were being used by Diddy as a means to intimidate her and demonstrate his influence.
Cassie and Diddy had a 13-year relationship before parting ways. In the same year they separated, Cassie revealed her new relationship with fitness trainer and actor Alex Fine. Together, they have two daughters and are currently expecting a son. Cassie is slated to be a witness in the trial, with jury selection reportedly already underway.
