Shiloh Jolie-Pitt Adopts New Professional Name
At 19 years old, Shiloh, the daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has chosen to go by a new nickname and has formally removed her father’s surname from her legal name.
Shiloh made a public appearance at a celebratory dinner for Isabel Marant’s new collection with Net-A-Porter this past Thursday, as reported by Variety. At the event, she was credited as Shi Joli and took on the role of choreographer for the musician Luella who performed there.
This shift in her professional identity follows her decision to legally omit ‘Pitt’ from her surname, which she made official on her 18th birthday in May 2024. The court approved this change later that same year, making her one of three siblings to make such a change, amidst her parents’ prolonged and often public legal battles.
Family Trend of Name Changes
Shiloh’s siblings have also opted for similar changes. Vivienne, at 16, used the name Vivienne Jolie in the Playbill for her performance in The Outsiders last year. Zahara, aged 20, introduced herself as Zahara Marley Jolie in a video during her initiation into the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at Spelman College, a clip that was later shared by Essence magazine.
The decision to drop their father’s surname by the Jolie-Pitt children follows a tumultuous divorce process between their parents, initiated by Jolie in 2016 when she filed for divorce and sole physical custody of their children. The divorce led to a lengthy legal dispute over custody and other issues, including the ownership of Château Miraval, a French estate and winery previously shared by the couple. The divorce was finalized after eight years of legal proceedings in December 2024.
Besides Shiloh, Zahara, and Vivienne, the former couple has three other children: Maddox, 23; Pax, 21; and Knox, 16. Angelina Jolie is now 49, and Brad Pitt is 61.
