“Dawson’s Creek” Actress Secretly Welcomes New Daughter: Exclusive Details Revealed

By Emily Anderson

For the first time, Michelle Williams has openly discussed the arrival of her fourth child.

The 44-year-old star of Dawson’s Creek recently shared details about her newest child, born via surrogacy, during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! This family news comes four months after the event was first reported.

While being interviewed by guest host Tiffany Haddish, who complimented her on her appearance, Williams revealed that she and her husband, Thomas Kail, have welcomed their third child together, and her fourth child in total.

“I really owe a huge thanks to Christine, because this latest baby didn’t come from me,” the Dying for Sex actress explained. “Our little girl’s arrival is all thanks to Christine. If you’re watching, Christine, thank you so much.” She added, “With Christine’s help, I now have three kids under the age of five at home.”

Williams, an Emmy Award winner, is also the mother to 19-year-old Matilda, whom she had with the late Heath Ledger, and two other children with Kail, born in the summers of 2020 and 2022. She has traditionally been very private about her family life, rarely sharing details about her children.

During her visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday, however, she told Haddish that managing three young children at home was going smoothly, humorously affirming, “I’m the adult in charge.”

“I’m navigating the challenge of balancing work and life,” she continued. “There’s a lot of talk about self-care, and I find myself wondering when I can fit that in. As a working mother, I already deal with enough guilt, and I hesitate to take more time away from my kids, but I recognize the necessity to recharge.”

Williams humorously shared how she manages to carve out some personal time by visiting “our splendid local government offices.”

“I tell my kids, ‘One day, you’ll grow up, get a job, pay taxes, and you’ll need a social security number,’” she shared with Haddish. “And here’s a tip: schedule your appointment for midday. It’s usually busier then. You can take the last spot in the line and enjoy a quiet wait for at least an hour.”

“They offer free seating,” she joked, suggesting bringing “a nail file” and “a to-do list” to make the most of the wait. And when finally called to the window, she enjoys “an adult conversation” with the clerk.

“If you want a real insider tip, don’t double-check your paperwork,” she quipped, “’cause that might just send you back to the start.”
