Fans of Mythical Kitchen will have to do without Nicole Enayati on screen for a while, as she’s stepping away from her YouTube appearances to take maternity leave.
Enayati, who became a mother in October, shared the news during the Dec. 21 recording of her podcast A Hotdog Is a Sandwich that she would be pausing her regular on-camera work to spend time with her new baby. The episode was taped prior to the delivery, and she said the installment titled “Trying Every Buldak Ramen Flavor” would serve as her “last podcast” for the foreseeable future.
At the beginning of that episode she told listeners plainly, “I’m having a baby,” and explained, “I’m gonna be going on maternity leave, so you’re not gonna see my face for a long time,” while noting the show would still release some audio-only installments so fans could continue to hear her voice.
Her co-host, Josh Scherer, offered heartfelt congratulations during the episode, acknowledging how much becoming a parent meant to her. He told an emotional Enayati that he knew how much she had wanted to become a mother and expressed confidence that she would be “a great mother,” sentiments he delivered with sincerity.
Scherer will keep the program running in her absence, bringing in a rotating lineup of guest hosts to fill the void on video episodes. Enayati admitted the shift from working constantly to stepping away would be a big adjustment, saying she expected to miss the work a great deal.
“I’ll be back, hopefully,” she added on the podcast, before adding with a laugh, “Knock on wood, I’ll be back.”
On Oct. 24 she and her husband, David Enayati, announced the arrival of their daughter, Eve Enayati. Sharing the news on Instagram at the time, Nicole wrote, “Welcome to the world, Eve Enayati. You are everything!”
