Celtic Fans Urged to Applaud: Honoring Beloved Grandad After Tragic Death

By Benjamin Harrison

Dylan Palmer is calling upon fans to honor his grandfather, Jimmy, with applause in the 77th minute of the game.

A family is requesting that Celtic supporters pay tribute to their dearly loved grandfather with a round of applause during an upcoming game.

Dylan Palmer hopes supporters will join his family in honoring Jimmy by clapping during the 77th minute of the match.

Jimmy, who was a passionate fan of Celtic, passed away last month due to complications from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

The 77-year-old, who lived in Broomhouse, Edinburgh, had found it increasingly difficult to attend games in person because of his health issues in recent years.

As reported by Glasgow Live, Jimmy cherished the moments he could watch his team play on television.

Dylan shared with our sister publication, “He was an avid supporter of Celtic. Over the past five years, as his mobility declined, he was confined to his home. He stubbornly refused to stop attending matches, but even with his mobility scooter, he struggled with falls. This led to him spending most of his time indoors.”

“Nevertheless, he always looked forward to the televised games. He really enjoyed them,” Dylan added.

“Even though I support Rangers, he persistently tried to sway me to support Celtic. It would mean so much to me and our family to see him honored this Sunday.”

Dylan is hopeful that fans will participate in the applause for Jimmy during Celtic’s league opener against St. Mirren, scheduled for Sunday, August 3.
