The remains have been sent for detailed examination after they were found in unsettling circumstances this past weekend.
Authorities have commenced an investigation after “possible human remains” were uncovered at Loch Lomond’s picturesque location.
The police were notified about the find around 12:40 pm on Saturday, September 14, in an area near Rubha Dubh, Firkin Point, located between Inverbeg and Tarbet.
Law enforcement removed the remains from the location to conduct further examinations.
Firkin Point, accessible via the Lomond Cycle Path, is situated near the lake and is favored by many for picnics and camping.
A spokesperson from Police Scotland spoke to the BBC stating, “Extensive inquiries are ongoing.”
