Trisha Goddard Faces Additional Health Challenge While Battling Stage 4 Cancer

Television personality Trisha Goddard is confronting a severe exacerbation of Raynaud’s syndrome alongside her ongoing battle with stage 4 cancer.

The 67-year-old former Celebrity Big Brother contestant disclosed on Instagram on May 27 that her Raynaud’s syndrome symptoms have intensified significantly during her chemotherapy sessions, which occur every three weeks.

Goddard posted an image showing her fingers blanched at the tips, a typical manifestation of Raynaud’s due to spasms in the small blood vessels of the fingers and toes. She described an increase in the syndrome’s hallmark symptoms of temperature sensitivity and a tingling sensation.

“Does anyone else struggle with annoying Raynaud’s? Here’s what you get for not wearing gloves while picking up frozen groceries, then sorting them into your freezer, silly me!” she shared. “I’ve had mild symptoms for many years, but the past year of regular infusions and chemotherapy have significantly aggravated my Raynaud’s.”

Goddard humorously remarked on her condition compared to other challenges, saying, “Compared to other troubles that are happening, it annoys me just a bit… Ouch!” She described the painful process her fingers undergo: turning from bright red to blue, then to an icy grey/white color before returning to normal.

Over time, Goddard has adapted to managing her Raynaud’s by wearing gloves while driving to avoid air conditioning and using a napkin when holding cold drinks. Nonetheless, she admitted, “Sometimes I forget, and the burning sensation begins, making my fingers painfully numb as they change to the colors of the Union Jack!”

Goddard also shared insights into how chemotherapy might trigger or worsen Raynaud’s syndrome. She publicly revealed her diagnosis of stage 4 breast cancer in February 2024, following her recovery from an initial battle with the disease in 2008.

“It’s not going to disappear,” she told Hello Magazine regarding her cancer prognosis. “With this realization comes a mix of grief and fear. However, I’m committed to continuing to cherish the activities I love.”

Goddard explained that she kept her cancer struggle private for over a year as she wanted to avoid terms like ‘dying’, ‘terminal’, ‘battling’, or ‘inspirational’, dismissing them as nonsense. “I’m still slightly annoyed with God, as I haven’t received a satisfactory answer to ‘Why me?’” she joked, adding, “But unfortunately, someone has to be a statistic.”

At the time of sharing, Goddard noted that regular scans showed her cancer had not spread further, thanks to her treatments. She mentioned not seeking a specific timeframe for her prognosis from her oncologist. “I’ve never been one to worry much about the future. It’s simply not in my nature, and even less so now,” she declared. “I prefer to live life fully and in the present moment.”
