Triston Harper gained recognition on American Idol Season 22 in early 2024. Originally from McIntosh, Alabama, he was just 15 when he received a golden ticket from judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie, propelling him into the Hollywood rounds. His performances, which included covers of tracks by country artists like Blake Shelton, Cody Johnson, and Luke Combs, helped him reach the top 5 before he was eliminated in May.

Only half a year following the Season 22 finale, where Abi Carter was declared the winner, Harper brought some thrilling personal news to his followers. In a Facebook post from November 2024, Harper hinted at “big news” as he announced his marriage to Reed by updating his relationship status to “married.” Just two days after this update, his mother disclosed that her son and Reed were expecting their first child.

“Now Everybody has congratulated me on Triston and Paris getting married but to me that is old news but now I’m bout to be a ‘G Ma,’” she expressed, as reported by Today.

Around the same period, Harper posted a photo with his wife, both beaming as he held a positive pregnancy test.

Since his departure from Idol, Harper has actively continued his music career, with significant help from his mother. In a June 2024 interview with AL.com, the artist behind the song “H.O.P.E.” shared, “the night I got eliminated, she hopped on it that same night and has been getting me gigs, bookings. We went the other day and had rehearsal for the band. … She put all that together to where I could be able to keep pursuing my career, and not just be waiting, while it’s still hot.”

Harper has since released his track “H.O.P.E.” on Spotify and has been performing at various venues across Alabama.
