Joe Maddalena, Heritage Auctions VP, believes this to be an infrequent chance for collectors to acquire these unique pieces of film history.
Among the prestigious items up for bidding is the infamous wooden plank from the 1997 film Titanic. Recognized for its appearance in a key scene where Leonardo DiCaprio’s character Jack allows Kate Winslet’s character Rose to float on it to avoid freezing, it has attracted a great deal of attention. Although initially priced in the low hundreds, this Titanic artifact is now estimated to fetch a staggering ,000.
Adding to its allure, the wooden plank has been at the center of an enduring controversy among Titanic fans. There have been rampant speculations on whether both Jack and Rose could have fit on the plank. Kate Winslet herself believes that while both could fit, it would not have remained buoyant.
