A man and his pet dog tragically lost their lives in a house fire that occurred in the early hours of Christmas Eve.
Emergency response teams were dispatched to a residence on Brodie Court in Glenrothes, Fife, around 1:30 AM on Wednesday after reports of a fire. Despite the swift response, the man was unfortunately found deceased inside his home.
Authorities confirmed that both the man and his dog died as a direct result of the fire.
Following the incident, police have initiated an investigation to determine the exact details of the fire. Photographs from the scene depict numerous fire engines and emergency vehicles present.
A representative from Police Scotland provided a statement, saying, “At approximately 1:30 AM on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, we received reports of a fire at a property located in the Brodie Court area of Glenrothes. Emergency services arrived promptly, and a man was discovered inside the property. He was declared deceased at the site. A dog also succumbed to the fire. We are currently conducting a joint investigation with the fire service to fully ascertain the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.”
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has been contacted by the media for further comments on the incident.
